End the Hostile Environment
The precarious status of migrants during COVID-19 is directly connected to the Government’s Hostile Environment policies. We can support migrants by getting these policies suspended and repealed. The following is a model letter that you can send to your MP.

Dear [enter MP name],
I am a Haringey resident writing to express my deep concerns about how Hostile Environment policies risk public health during COVID-19. These policies are stopping migrants from accessing healthcare and isolating safely, making them acutely vulnerable to the coronavirus.

Dear [enter MP name],
I am a Haringey resident writing to express my deep concerns about how Hostile Environment policies risk public health during COVID-19. These policies are stopping migrants from accessing healthcare and isolating safely, making them acutely vulnerable to the coronavirus.
In particular:
- Fears of NHS charges and data-sharing with the Home Office is stopping migrants accessing healthcare
- Migrants are especially at risk of destitution, especially where they have no access to existing welfare/ relief provisions
- Detention centres and deportations place migrants at great risk/ vulnerability to contracting and spreading coronavirus
- Leave to remain expiring / overstaying would mean losing access to right to work, access to social security benefits if they have it, access to healthcare
- Suspend all NHS charging and data-sharing with the Home Office and launching a public information campaign that makes clear migrants can use healthcare services.
- End no recourse to public funds.
- Extend leave to remain that is currently/about to run out so that no one becomes an 'overstayer'.
- Release migrants from detention centres and provide them with appropriate health, welfare and housing support.
- End deportations.
Best wishes,
